Katherine (Kathy) Mann

Kathy was born and raised in Houston, Texas, and has been married to her husband, Paul, for twenty three years. They have 2 children: Michael and Madison.

Education and Work

Kathy completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at the University of Texas at Austin in 1994 where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. After college, she moved home to Houston and worked in human resources where she rolled out and trained clients on proprietary software while completing her Masters of Education in Counseling at the University of Houston. After marrying Paul in July of 2000, she moved to Salt Lake City, UT to join and support her husband while he completed a surgical residency in Ophthalmology. Kathy continued to work in Human Resources on the technical side until her children were born.

Community Involvement

While her children were young, Kathy was a member of the Junior League of Houston for 7 years. She volunteered weekly in a program called Sing-a-Long with Seniors where she devoted her time to entertaining senior citizens in assisted living homes. Kathy has also been a member of the River Oaks Rose Club, founded in 1928, since 2012 where she has served in various executive office positions including Vice President of Arrangements, Historian and Communications to name a few. Kathy was heavily involved with the Houston Symphony from 2010 through 2020 where she served on a Special Events Committee. She chaired several major Houston Symphony events including the Wine Dinner and Collector’s Auction held on stage at Jones Hall and the Opening Night Gala for the symphony during their 100th year centennial celebration in 2013.

Boards

Kathy served on the Executive Board of the Salvation Army of Houston from 2013 through 2020 and she currently serves on the University of Texas McGovern Medical School Development Board along with her husband. School Volunteer

In addition to her community involvement, Kathy has devoted her time to volunteering at her children’s school through the years including everything from room parent, library volunteer and teacher appreciation leader to currently chairing the Junior/Senior Prom for 2024 for St. John’s School.

Kathy and her husband are members of the The Coronado Club, The Clubs atHouston Oaks, Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin – Houston and The Houstonian Club.
