In March 2025, the See Life Better Foundation partnered with Haiti Eye Mission
The trip wasn’t without challenges…
Civil unrest forced us to change locations to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
Four surgeons and 8 support staff were able to partner with INVIS, a local ophthalmology practice. We operated 5 full days from 8am to 8pm. Dr. Bergstrom’s tireless efforts led to him really missing home after not having seen his wife in over 2 years!
Of the 215 surgeries performed during the 5-day trip, one patient was a 3 year old girl who was born blind in her left eye. Another was a man who was burned with acid 20 years prior and had been blind in both eyes ever since. As a team, sight and hope were restored for these patients and 213 others. We’re honored, grateful, and very proud.

Bilateral Cornea Disease
Meet our 3 year-old patient who was born with bilateral cornea disease which left her functionally blind.
Our team was able to treat one eye on a 2025 mission trip and the other on a similar trip the following year. We are so blessed to be able to stay in touch! Mom says she is able to play more freely and Mom can’t wait to teach her to read – a dream that was unattainable before.
